Who we are
Mr. Sprocket was started by three IT pros with backgrounds in enterprise data centers and production systems at large financial-services firms. Between us, we have 14+ years of hands-on data center operations (rack & stack, server installs and decommissions, and break-fix), experience leading data center engineering shifts and major-incident response, and 10+ years as SRE and DevOps engineers building monitoring, alerting and cloud automation. We've helped open 3 data centers and close 5, trained other technicians, and done desktop support, so we know how to explain tech at any skill level. We bring the same habits to every job, from a home PC to a server rack: careful change control, clean documentation and steady incident handling.
FAQ
Where do you work?
We're finalizing our on-site service area. Remote help is available wherever we can connect securely.
What does Home PC Care include?
For $30 a month per computer (provisional), we monitor one enrolled Windows computer and take your ticket requests. Common fixes are included, as spelled out in your written plan terms. On-site visits and parts are billed separately.
Do you have a plan for businesses?
Yes, the Business Care plan is coming soon. For now, we do fixed-price projects and hourly support.
Can we prepay data center hours?
A prepaid block of hours is coming soon. We'll publish the price and terms once they're set.
Are your prices final?
The published prices are our standard estimates. We confirm the price for your job before any work starts.
Do you work after hours or on weekends?
Yes, evenings and weekends, when it's booked in advance and we can line up a technician for it. Regular service is by appointment during business hours. After-hours work is subject to availability, and we'll quote the after-hours rate before we confirm the booking. We don't offer on-call or 24/7 coverage.
What's the difference between smart hands and remote hands?
Remote hands usually means basic tasks: reboots, visual checks, receiving a package. Many colos include those. Smart hands means skilled technician work: racking and installing new gear, in-rack patching, and fiber patching, plus replacing failed components, running a migration or decommission, working a change window, and documenting it all. That's what we do.
Do you offer 24/7 or emergency response?
No. We don't do emergencies. Planned work, including after-hours change windows, is booked in advance and subject to availability.
Can you work inside our colo / under our change process?
Yes. Data center work runs under your authorization and change process. We follow site access rules and document every visit.
Are parts and hardware included?
No. Parts and hardware are extra unless we say otherwise, and we'll tell you before buying anything.
Do you work with other IT providers / MSPs?
Yes. We can be your on-site smart hands for your clients: rack & stack, break-fix, installs, decommissions and change windows.
Do you do structured cabling?
No. We don't take on new cable runs or structured cabling projects. In the data center we handle fiber patching and cross-connect patching to your existing panels, plus cable tracing and labeling.
